As you can see from the pictures, the climate of Machu Picchu is much wetter that the climate of Cusco, as Cusco is almost a thousand meters higher. In fact when you ride the Machu Pichu Train from Ollantaytambo, the train is descending continuously.

Wild begonias decorate the rock walls as you descend back on foot to the Aguas Calientes village.
